The ASEAN-China Workshop on Traditional Medicine Regulation and Standards Research and Training was held in Nanning on 3 September 2024, under the theme “Traditional Medicine Regulation and Standards Research Oriented Toward ASEAN.” Organized by the Guangxi Medical Products Administration in collaboration with Chinese research institutions and ASEAN partners, the workshop gathered nearly 100 participants from China and ASEAN Member States to exchange views on traditional medicine regulation, herbal nomenclature, and quality standards, promoting mutual learning and innovation in the field.

The Workshop on Deepening Cooperation on Quality Research of Southeast Asian Raw Herbal Materials followed in Hanoi from 26–27 August 2025, under the theme “Building a Standard System Together, Safeguarding Cultural Heritage, and Sharing Health and Well-being.” The two-day hybrid event brought together 110 participants, including officials, researchers, and industry representatives from China and ASEAN, to discuss regulatory frameworks, quality standards, and herbal research, and to sign cooperation framework agreements aimed at deepening practical collaboration.

Both workshops were funded by the ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund (ACCF) under the same project, “Deepening Cooperation on Quality Research of Southeast Asian Raw Herbal Materials and Creating a China-ASEAN Exchange Platform for Quality of Herbal-Based Pharmaceuticals.” The project, implemented by the Guangxi Medical Products Administration with Chinese and ASEAN partners, aims to enhance communication, standard harmonization, and quality research on traditional medicine across the region.

These events mark significant progress in strengthening China–ASEAN cooperation on traditional medicine regulation, promoting technical exchange, mutual trust, and innovation, and contributing to the inheritance and development of traditional medicine for the benefit of public health in the region.
