The 22nd ASEAN-China Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting held via video conference on 5 March 2021
On March 5th, 2021 The 22nd ASEAN-China Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting held via video conference. Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, Ambassador Noel Servigon, and Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN, Deng Xijun, co-chaired the meeting, and attended by the Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States and the Deputy Secretary-General Robert Matheus Michael Tene for ASEAN Political-Security Community.
This year is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the dialogue relationship between ASEAN and China. It has also been designated as the ASEAN-China Year of Sustainable Development Cooperation. At the JCC meeting, both sides took note of the implementation of the ASEAN-China Plan of Action for the period 2016-2020, with significant progress made in areas such as political-security cooperation, trade, transport, tourism, ICT, digital economy, education, public health, culture and information media, environment and sustainable development, and narrowing the development gap. Initial progress has also been made in the implementation of the new Plan of Action for the period 2021-2025 which is designed to further strengthen ASEAN-China cooperation in the next five years.

ACCF, Management Team (AMT) attended the JCC meeting on part of update the management of the ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund, in which ACCF has been and will be continued to support development projects to the benefits of the stakeholders in AMS countries, and China. The development projects under ACCF supports are covered various sectors such as people-to-people connection, education, environment, culture and sport, media exchange, climate change impact mitigation, combating marine debris, promoting clean energy, poverty eradication and disaster.
Prior to the JCC meetings, AMT has attended two series of meetings: 1) the “2nd ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund Working Group (ACCF-WG)” online on March 3rd, 2021 to update ACCF projects status and update financial data., and 2) the 22nd ASEAN-China Joint cooperation Committee Working Group (ACJCC-WG) on March 4th , 2021.
