The 2021 East Asia Summit New Energy Forum Is Successfully Held on 20 October 2021

The East Asia Summit New Energy Forum 2021, which is hosted by the Department of International Cooperation of Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Department, organized by Yunnan Academy of Scientific and Technical Information, Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center, China-ASEAN Innovation Center, and China-South Asia Technology Transfer Center, is successfully held in Shanghai on October 20. The forum is to fully implement the spirit of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang’s speech, that “China stands ready to step up climate cooperation with EAS participating countries, and continue to hold such events as the New Energy Forum and Clean Energy Forum” at the 15th East Asia Summit on November 14, 2020. The Forum aims to strengthen policy exchanges, innovative cooperation and achievement transformation among East Asia Summit member countries in the field of new energy, build a new development pattern, and jointly promote regional green and sustainable development.

With the theme of “Focusing on Innovative Cooperation for New Development Pattern”, this forum takes the form of online and virtual “cloud conference”. Main activities include Opening Session, Online Group Photo, Keynote Report, Keynote Speech, Panel Discussion and Round-table Discussion. Mr. RUAN Xiangping, First Counsel (Director-general Level), Department of International Cooperation of Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. ZHANG Jihong, Counsel at Level 2, Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Department gave opening addresses via video link. Prof. ZHAO Dongyuan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Nuki Agya UTAMA, Executive Director of ASEAN Centre for Energy and Dr. CHAI Qimin, Director of Strategy and Planning Department in National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation of P.R.China delivered Keynote Reports speech at the offline venue.

At the event, the Panel Discussion Speech given by Mr. HUANG Cheng, Counsellor/Director of ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund Management Team (AMT) at ASEAN Secretariat. and the Round Table 1 – Trends and Policy Options to Promote New Energy, moderated by Mr. Gu Junjie, Assistant Director and Programme Manager of ACCF-AMT.
